THE CHALLENGE
Water that is indiscriminately recycled within a closed loop water supply system, can rapidly accumulate a wide range of unpleasant contaminants.
In an environment where energy and water supply need to be meticulously managed, water purification efforts can not always rely on heating procedures. Also, harmful chemicals, human excretory waste and pharmaceutical residue need to be effectively removed and the formation of biofilms within water filtration and storage systems has to be prohibited at all costs, in order to minimise maintenance and preserve the integrity of potable water, over extensive time frames.
Furthermore, this needs to be achieved, with minimal material volume, to lower payload, without compromising water quality.
OUR SOLUTION
Antipathogenic activity in regular materials, requires light- or photo-activation, in order to perform the designated function.
Quantum Materials come with a unique ability to perform critical water-purification under operational conditions - i.e., antipathogenic activity in the dark.
Quantum Materials are characterized by very high surface area to volume ratio, which enables an increase in their effective performance as the particle size decreases, and lowers the necessary dosage, so they can be used in very small amounts. This enables a significant enhancement of the performance of the water purification system they're incorporated in.
OUR OFFERING
NANOARC offers atomically architectured quantum material nanopowders, for controlled dosage and incorporation within water processing systems, to support the removal of microbes, prohibit the formation of biofilms that clog filters under operation conditions (e.g. dark tube interiors) and decontaminate the water treatment system of human excretory waste, pharmaceutical and toxic chemical residue.
Our quantum materials are designed to operate within broad pH ranges and temperatures. The nanopowders can be used to form pellets for filter beds or as additives for transparent coatings, to protect filter membrane, tubing, pipes and water tank interior surfaces.
As coatings, the quantum materials enable the extension of filter membrane service lifetime, by destroying harmful bacteria and preventing the accumulation of biofilms that contaminate and clog filter membranes.
As a result, the service time of the water purification systems is substantially prolonged, while simultaneously reducing payload within the space craft.
